    Where World-Class Dancers Are Forged

Maria Prada Dance Academy brings children, youth, and adults together in Medellín through ballet, contemporary, jazz, Latin, and urban dance. By welcoming guest choreographers and instructors, the academy creates vital teaching opportunities, while professional instruction and mentorship develop artistry beyond a single performance.

Born to Perform is supported by VPAA in collaboration with Maria Prada Dance Academy, its Colombian nonprofit training partner.

    01 · The Mission

    Why this matters.

Thousands of young people grow up without consistent access to artistic education, mentorship, creative opportunity, or safe spaces to develop their talents. Born to Perform was created to help change that.

Through dance, storytelling, mentorship, competitions, and structured arts education, we help youth develop confidence, discipline, artistic excellence, emotional resilience, and opportunity—while building pathways for long-term personal and professional growth.

For many young artists in Colombia, these programs become far more than extracurricular activities. They become spaces for structure, belonging, emotional expression, mentorship, and hope for the future.

In communities facing economic hardship and limited access to opportunity, the arts can provide stability, confidence, direction, and a positive path forward.

Some students come from environments where creative programs become one of the few consistent spaces for growth, support, and community connection.

Born To Perform exists to help ensure that talent is not limited by economic circumstance.

    Born to Perform · Spotlight

    One ensemble. One featured journey.

Spotlight is part of Born to Perform, not a separate initiative. Your existing QR card supports the same collective mission.

    • The whole team works toward $5,000 USD over each three-month quarter. Once the goal is reached and essential competition, training, costume and local transport costs are covered, leadership approves an affordable filming budget. Reaching $5,000 alone does not book a film crew.
    • All students appear in the ensemble film. The student who raises the most confirmed donations in that quarter earns the central featured story, filmed in the following quarter, subject to academy good standing and required participant or guardian consent.
    • Christian, Maria and Natalie confirm donation attribution, resolve ties together, check consent and agree the filming schedule. Raising $2,000 of a $5,000 quarter earns the lead if it is the highest individual total.
    • About 10–15% ($500–$750 at the $5,000 goal) may support filming and editing after essentials are covered. This is a planning allowance, not a quote or guaranteed production cost. A dedicated sponsor can fund the film separately with an approved budget.
    • If the goal is missed and no sponsor funds production, standout students still receive website and social-media features; no paid film production is booked. Keep sharing, thanking supporters and supporting the team.
    • The film can also promote the collective mission, with appropriate consent. Donations support Born to Perform, not personal cash payouts. Public pages do not display private fundraising totals.
